My artistic practice is deeply rooted in the intentional transmission of knowledge and storytelling. Each piece I create, whether it is a mixed-media work or a stitched artisan bag, carries its own unique narrative. Central to my work are Adinkra symbols like Sankofa, which serve as powerful reminders to reach back and gather the best of our past as we move forward into the future.
The subjects I explore flow naturally from my heart, guided by intuition and personal sentiment. This organic approach ensures that every piece reflects a genuine and authentic perspective. I am especially drawn to incorporating unconventional materials such as beads, fabric, and paper, which bring distinctive textures and dimensions to my work. By challenging traditional artistic norms, I invite viewers to engage with art in new and refreshing ways.
My inspiration is deeply intertwined with my faith, a passion for history, and a relentless thirst for knowledge. These foundational elements continually fuel my creativity and provide a rich well of ideas and motivation.
I begin each piece on a wood panel, chosen for its strength and ability to support the multiple layers of mixed media and resin I apply. This sturdy foundation allows me to build complex, textured surfaces that embody the depth and richness of the stories I aim to tell.
Through my art, I strive to create works that not only resonate visually but also invite reflection on heritage, spirituality, and the ongoing dialogue between past and present.
